"The world is before you and you need not take it or leave it as it was before you came in."
Inspired by the brilliance of fashion icon, Valentino Garavani, NIIAMAR’s enduring style has become the signature of his designs. His love for artistry blossomed at an early age, drawing inspiration from paintings, architecture and nostalgic glamour to create timeless designs.
He studied at Florida A&M University (FAMU) where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in design in 2007; launching the school’s fashion design program. NIIAMAR worked as a Design Assistant to renowned designer, Kevan Hall prior to relocating to New York in 2008.
His collections of Evening Couture and Ready-to-Wear designs for women have been featured in several publications, fashion shows, and theatre productions. In addition to designing stunning collections each season, NIIAMAR’s designs have been worn by Hollywood personalities on nationally syndicated television shows and to red carpet events; including the Academy Awards.
From features in EBONY magazine and FASHION BOMB DAILY to an impressive appearance on Lifetime’s “24 Hour Catwalk”, where judges took note of his exceptional design aesthetics, NIIAMAR’s list of accomplishments in both fashion and costume design, continues to grow. Some of the most notable accolades include, winner of the American Express Passion Project; a nomination for the Marvin Sims Design Fellowship in Costume Design awarded by the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts; an AUDELCO Award nomination for Best Costume Design for the off-Broadway production of August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The theatrical community has taken note of his skillful design with principal costume design work, including Sowa's Red Gravy, The Cheaters Club, Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate, and The Doll Confessions, directed by Tony Award Winner Trezana Beverly.
In 2014 NIIAMAR embarked on a life changing venture; chronicling his journey as a rising fashion designer. The short documentary, NIIAMAR…It is What It Is (released in May 2015) gives an inside look at what it will take to make his mark in the world of fashion. He shares the struggles, drama and triumphs of creating an awe inspiring collection. The documentary has been accepted in film festivals around the country.
He currently resides in New York City where he is the Assistant Costumer for Pace University School of Performing Arts. Prior to joining Pace University he served as Assistant Costume Director from 2008 - 2013 at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, the world's first acting conservatory.
